25 Illegal Farm Houses Demolished in Sohna; Unapproved Colonies Under Scrutiny
In a recent crackdown by the town and country planning department (DTCP), 25 illegal farmhouses occupying 50 acres of land in Kiranki village, Sohna, were demolished. Additionally, two more farmhouse colonies in Bilaspur and Sidhrawali villages faced a similar fate. The authorities confirmed that these colonies lacked permissions from competent authorities and flagrantly violated established norms.
DTCP’s Initiative for Sustainable Development
To combat the proliferation of illegal farmhouses and promote sustainable development, the DTCP previously revised its policy regarding the creation of low-density, eco-friendly colonies.
Revised Policy Guidelines
Under the newly revised policy, builders are allowed to construct farmhouse colonies on a maximum of 25 acres in Gurgaon, 15 acres in Sohna, and 10 acres in Pataudi and Farukhnagar.
Crackdown on Illegal Farmhouses
The DTCP has intensified its efforts to curb illegal farmhouse colonies with the assistance of two additional district town planners.
Kiranki Village Demolition
In Kiranki village, the enforcement team not only razed 25 illegal farmhouses but also demolished six under-construction structures and a nearly 2,700-meter road network.
Demolition in Bilaspur and Sidhrawali Villages
In Bilaspur and Sidhrawali villages, the enforcement team carried out demolition activities on various unauthorized structures, including a dhaba, a swimming pool, two warehouses, the colony boundary wall, entrance gate, a property dealer’s office, residential quarters, and offices.
Appeal for Caution
During the demolition drive, the enforcement officials urged people not to invest their savings in such illegal colonies, cautioning that strict action would be taken against offenders, and FIRs would be registered.
Streamlined Complaint Handling
In an effort to streamline complaints related to building norm violations, a separate police station has been established in Sushant Lok 2, specifically handling cases filed by the department.
FIRs and Enforcement Measures
The DTCP has already recommended FIRs against 100 property owners in DLF 1 and 2, Sushant Lok 1 and 2, and South City 1 and 2 for violating building norms and utilizing their properties for commercial purposes without obtaining mandatory permissions from the concerned authorities. Of these, the police have so far filed FIRs against 30 offenders.
By taking strict enforcement actions, the authorities aim to uphold regulations and protect the environment while promoting lawful and sustainable development in the region.
